Sarah Louise (Minnich) Wienand, 88, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at her home. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Sr., and Ella Nora (Evans) Minnich. She was the loving wife of Martin F. Wienand, Jr. for over 25 years. Sarah was a 1948 graduate of Solanco High School. She went on to work for Farmers National Bank and later, BBT Bank for 38 years. Sarah was an active, long-time member of St. Paul’s Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also a girl scout leader in Quarryville for many years. She had volunteered at Community Hospital in Lancaster and also delivered with Meals on Wheels. Sarah loved flower gardening and was known for her beautiful floral arrangements. She also enjoyed playing cards and dancing and formed many close friendships through these activities. Sarah and Martin traveled extensively both on cruises and bus trips throughout the United States. She also had fond memories of her annual trips to Cape May with family and friends. She was an avid Phillies fan. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Michele, wife of Jeff Haupt of Willow Street; a son, Michael P. Douglas, partner of Daniel Armitage of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren: Christopher, Daniel, and Jenna; 7 great grandchildren, 2 stepsons, 3 step grandsons, and 4 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Minnich, Jr. Funeral services will take place at St. Paul’s Church, 1 West Fourth Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
