Ruth Weaver Rankin was born in Lancaster County on February 5, 1932, to her parents, Naomi and J. Paul Weaver. Ruth attended and graduated from the East Lampeter High School in 1950. Ruth married Earl W. Rankin on June 7, 1953, and they celebrated 59 happy years of marriage. Ruth and Earl had a baby girl on December 2, 1956, Pamela Jo, and lived in the Willow Street area until 1970, when they moved to Strasburg Township, where they resided until Earl’s death in 2012. Ruth worked in the family business, D.M. Weaver & Sons, for forty years at central market and Kitchen Kettle. Ruth was the creative partner to Earl on the many homes he built and restored in the Willow Street and Strasburg area. In 1983, Ruth and her daughter, Pam, started Maple Croft Interiors at the old Maple Croft School building, until it closed in 2011. Ruth was not only very creative, but was known as a very kind and sincere soul. Many long-term Maple Croft Interiors customers would often say they loved to come to the store just to be greeted by and talk with Ruthie. She made everyone feel welcome and like they were the only one in the room.
Ruth was a long time member of the United Church of Christ. Ruth is survived by her daughter Pam Hults, son-in-law John Hults and grandchildren Kathryn and Ethan Hults.
