Rose Marie Chase, 83, of Latham Road, Nottingham, PA died unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born in West Grove, PA she was the daughter of the late E. Harvey and Avis E. Thompson Chase. Rose had been employed as a real estate agent for over 10 years. Rose dedicated her motherly care to her handicapped daughter, Jill Chase Eshleman who was the first child ever to be brought home from the hospital on a ventilator. A devoted naturalist, she was a founder of the “Concerned Citizens of West Nottingham Township” and worked diligently with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to establish the William Penn State Forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania. As a result of her hard work, a trail through the park was named after her “Rose Trail”. Surviving her is a daughter, Julia (Gregory) Culler of Nottingham; 2 grandsons, Wyatt R. Culler, Ethan C. (Christine Fanchiang) Culler; and 2 sisters, Lois Wise and twin sister Ruth Lafontaine.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Jill and 4 brothers, Lovell Chase, George S. Chase, E. Harvey Chase, Jr. and Harold Chase. A memorial service will be held at Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Road, Kirkwood, PA on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 7:00PM with Pastor Tom Chase officiating.
