Roberta A. (McConomy) “Bobbie” Paulson, 78, of Quarryville, entered the Kingdom of God on Monday, September 29, 2014 at home with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Dorothea (Marshall) McConomy. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William A. Paulson, Sr. (PECO). Bobbie lived her early childhood years in Atlantic City, NJ. She attended Holy Spirit School and was a drum majorette. Bobbie met her husband, Billy, in Southwest Philadelphia, where it all “started with a wink.” Her first job was as an Atlantic Bell telephone operator. After marrying and living in Philadelphia for a short time, the family moved to Ridley Park, PA and in 1969, moved to Woodlyn, PA where they were members of Our Lady of Peace Church. She enjoyed summers “down the shore” in Brigantine, NJ and took the children to Atlantic City boardwalk, Captain Starns to feed the sea lions, Steel Pier and had so much fun just being by the ocean. She had a very generous spirit and opened her homes to family and friends to enjoy celebrations, holidays and family time. In her early 40’s, Bobbie moved to Quarryville, PA. Her husband, Billy, worked at Peach Bottom PECO Plant and she didn’t want him to drive the long miles back and forth to Delaware County. In Quarryville, she was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.
Bobbie was an accomplished ceramist. She won 10 blue ribbons over the years at ceramic hobby shows. She had an attention to detail and especially a flair for painting “real life eyes” that would make the ceramic piece come alive. Bobbie turned her love of ceramics into a profession. She began with home demonstrations and later opened two ceramic shops and had tables at craft shows. Later in her career, she became known for her beautiful hand-painted pins. She also loved taking pictures and videos, sometimes to the point where people would say, “Enough, Bobbie!” She would respond by saying, “You’ll enjoy all of these pictures when I’m gone!” Touché, Bobbie! She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville. She was a recreational golfer at Tanglewood in The Nine Holers and was a member of Media Heights Country Club where she served as secretary for the ladies golf team. In their retirement, Bobbie and Billy spent many years as snowbirds in Florida, where Bobbie loved the various seaside birds, the dolphins, the gorgeous sunsets and the beautiful palm trees. Bobbie was never one to say goodbye. She always said, “Never goodbye, always so long.” Well, so long Bobbie. We shall miss you so much, but are assured in Christ, we shall be together again. In addition to her husband, Bobbie is survived by six children: Michael (Denise), Helen (Richie Hamilton), Roberta (Doug Satterfield), William, Jr. (Sherry), Sara Anne, and Dorothea (Jim Chartreau); 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, beloved aunt and uncle, a cousin who was like a brother and a grandson, Chickie Baby. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville, PA 17566 on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert A. Yohe, Jr. as celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Final Farewell and Commendation will follow in the St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hannah’s Homeless, 33 4th St. N. Suite 203, St. Petersburg, FL 33714. Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc.
