Robert L. Duvall, Sr., age 90, of Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA passed away at the Glen at Willow Valley on Monday, December 11, 2023. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. Smith Duvall who died March 22, 2010. Born in Toughkenamon, PA he was the son of the late John M. and Ethel M. Trimble Duvall. Bob’s working career was in the automobile business. He first started working for H.H. Wiggins in Lancaster in 1950. He then moved to their dealership in Quarryville in 1955 and became their general manager. In 1975, he purchased the business and operated it as Duvall Chevrolet until its closing in 2008. Bob proudly served his county in the 24th Infantry Division of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge and the American Legion Post #603, Quarryville. His enjoyments and interests were hunting, fishing, local car races, NASCAR, and baseball especially the Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds. Bob is survived by 2 children, Barbara A. (Paul N.) Davis of Lampeter, Robert L. “Sarge” (Angela) Duvall, Jr. of Willow Street; 3 grandchildren, Robert L. Duvall, III, Rachel Ann Davis, John Edward Davis; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, J. Eugene Duvall, Donald Duvall, and Gerald Duvall. The family wishes to thank the staff on the 5th floor at the Glen for the excellent care they gave to Bob during his stay with them. Funeral services will be held at Reynolds & Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00AM with Pastor John Meck officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Conestoga Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Hospice and Community Care P.O.
