Richard C. Evans, 79, of Quarryville, entered into rest at his home on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Marvin and Helen (Graybill) Evans. His wife, Shirley J. (Housekeeper) Evans passed in 2015. After graduating from Solanco High School, Dick went to work in the family business with his father and brothers in the building industry. In later years he worked as a painter for the Chester Water Authority. Dick loved the outdoors and traveling to their family cabin, “Evans Acres” in Lycoming County, where he hunted, fished and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Richard also enjoyed working in his yard and using his carpentry skills to build things. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughters: Tammy M., wife of Rodney Winner of Quarryville; and Terri L., wife of Douglas Elvey of Quarryville, along with grandchildren: Amanda Bailey (Jason), Jacquelyn Winner, Brandon Elvey, and Jordon Elvey and great grandchildren: Sierra and Christian Miron. Also surviving are brothers, John Evans and Donald Evans. He was preceded in death by a sisters, Kay Davis and Wanda Winters. At Dick’s request, there will be a private family funeral service followed by traditional interment in the Quarryville Cemetery.
