C. Eugene Peiffer of Quarryville died on Friday, July 12, 2013. He was 85. Mr. Peiffer was born in Lancaster, a son of the late John R. and Grace Reidenbach Peiffer. He graduated from Milton Hershey Boys School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served with the 308th Bombardment Wing, Kimpo Air Base, Korea. Mr. Peiffer worked for Burnham and Hamilton Watch before joining Armstrong World Industries. He retired as a draftsman with Armstrong in 1989. He enjoyed working on clocks and operated a clock repair business from his home. Mr. Peiffer was a member of St. Paul's Church, Quarryville; American Legion Post 603, Quarryville; Washington Lodge 156, F.&A.M., Quarryville; the Quarryville Area Sewer Authority; and the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, White Rock. He volunteered with hospice and served as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 40.
Mr. Peiffer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Peiffer; two sons, Kent, husband of Connie Peiffer of New Providence, and Scott, husband of Mary Peiffer of Quarryville; granddaughters Leah, wife of Kenny Porrit, Erin, wife of Kyle Bair, Monica, wife of Frank Lerro, and Marla Pieffer; great-granchildren, Tyler and Colette; his sister-in-law, Debbie Peiffer; and three stepsisters, Bonnie Henrich, Joanne Kauffman, and Betty Brown. A brother, Dale Peiffer, is deceased. Services will be private. Burial will be in Quarryville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O.
