Pauline B. Stoner of Lancaster Pike, Quarryville, died at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, on Friday morning, January 2, 2015. She was 92. Mrs. Stoner was born in New Providence, a daughter of the late J. Lehman and Martha R. Burkins. She was a 1944 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College. Mrs. Stoner taught elementary school for the Solanco School District from 1945 to 1978. She was a 75-year member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, a deacon, and a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Stoner also directed the church’s Junior Choir for 30 years. Mrs. Stoner volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and was a group leader for 4-H. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, cooking, and outdoor activities. Mrs. Stoner is survived by her son, John B., husband of Linda J. Stoner of Quarryville. Her husband of 58 years, John H. Stoner, died in 2004. A brother, Robert C. Burkins, is also deceased. Friends may call at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7. Services will be held from the church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Dr. Michael R. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
