Nancy L. “Nanz” Lefever, 84, formerly of Kirkwood, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Masonic Village. Born in Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Farra) Anderson. Nancy was a graduate of Quarryville High School, class of 1957. Early in her career she worked as a secretary at Bart-Colerain Elementary School. She then transitioned to having a life-long career with the US Post Office, retiring as Postmaster with over 30 years of service. She especially enjoyed her post-retirement employment at Clipper Magazine Stadium and as a dresser for Sight and Sound Theatres. Nancy considered it a privilege to host more than 15 foreign students in her home over the years. She was a member of Farm Women Society #15, Robert Fulton Chapter #446 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Union Presbyterian Church. Nancy was happiest when she spent time with her children and her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Memaw”. She is survived by her children, Victoria (Stephen) Groff, of Manheim, and Perry D. (Eileen) Lefever, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Jenna (Adam) Charles, McKenzie Groff, Luke Groff, Michael Lefever, and Mary Lefever; great-grandchildren, Cole & Quinn Charles; and a brother, John (Gloria) Anderson, of Oxford. She is also survived by Roy Allen “Butch” (Judy) Huss, of Cleveland, NC, and Hiko Akimoto, of Japan, who were like family to Nancy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, P. David Lefever, a sister, Kathryn Horner, and her brothers, Charles, Mervin, and Robert Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 West 4th Street, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a time to visit with the family from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
