Jean D. Hart, 80, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Ware Presbyterian Village, where she had been residing for the last 8 months. Born in Bart Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Kathryn (Mendhall) Rice. She and her husband, Raymond C. “Skeeter” Hart had celebrated 60 years of marriage in January. Jean graduated from Solanco High School in 1955. She went on to work at the former Raub Supply in Lancaster. In later years, she worked for the former Bowmen’s Snack Bar, Dottie’s Snack Bar, and in food service for Solanco School District, where she retired. She was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church. Jean enjoyed her vegetable and flower garden, knitting, baking, reading, and spending time with her family. Surviving besides her husband is a son, Les, husband of Leslie Ferguson-Hart, of Quarryville, a daughter, Tracy, wife of Gary Robinson, of New Providence, grandchildren; Nathan and Laken Hart, Rebecca Riddell, Scott Robinson, and a sister, Janice Retrossa.
Jean was preceded in death by a son, Fenton, a brother, Dale Rice, and a sister, Joyce Pyle. Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville, PA at 11:00 A.M. followed by interment in Middle Octorara Presbyterian Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:30 until 7:30 P.M. and also one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
