Janice Potoka of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Friday, August 15, 2014. She was 88. Mrs. Potoka was born in Binghampton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lillian Morgan. She and her husband moved to the retirement community in 2007. She graduated from the National Bible Institute, New York City, in 1948 with a diploma in Christian Education. Mrs. Potoka was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Binghampton. She taught Children's Church in the congregations her husband pastored in Seaside Heights, N.J., Ventor, N.J., Levittown, Pa., and Locktown, N.J.
Mrs. Potoka enjoyed decorating cakes, sewing, crafts, and scrapbooking. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Eugene Potoka; her children, Gene, husband of Harriet Potoka of Chicago, Ill., Jon, husband of Evelyn Potoka of Lancaster, the Rev. Gerald, husband of Eileen Potoka of Charlotte, N.C., James, husband of Kathleen Potoka of Newtown, and Jeffrey, husband of Margi Potoka of Newtown; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Keith Morgan of Binghampton. Friends may call at the auditorium of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23. A memorial service will be held in the auditorium at 2 p.m. on that date. Private burial will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Lancaster County, 5307 Main St., East Petersburg PA 17520.
