Helen F. McKelvey of Holtwood died in Lancaster on Thursday, October 10, 2013. She was 90. Mrs. McKelvey was born in Quarryville, a daughter of the late Bart and Julia Myers Trout. She farmed at the Buck and was a domestic worker for many local people, including Pauline Stoner, Verna Mae Murphy, the Musser family, and Sally Gibson. Mrs. McKelvey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph McKelvey; two daughters, Ruth H., wife of Thomas C. Smith of Drumore, and Bonnie, wife of Jack Kilkenny of Hershey; three grandchildren, Kenneth, husband of Kim Walton of Lancaster, Diane, wife of Christopher Lehoe of Conestoga, and Brian, husband of Shelly Landis of Quarryville; four great-grandchildren, Kirsten Walton, Kenneth Walton, Kayla Landis, and Wyatt Landis. Her first husband, Kenneth T. Waltman, died in 1973. A great-granddaughter, Kathryn Frances Lehoe; four brothers; and a sister are also deceased. Friends may call at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, 227 W. Fourth St., Quarryville, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14. Services will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. on that date with Pastor Robert Bronkema officiating. Burial will be in the Quarryville Cemetery.
