Harold A. "Kippy" Kipphorn Sr. of Old Holtwood Rd., Holtwood, died at Lancaster General Hospital on Saturday, June 29, 2013. He was 74. Mr. Kipphorn was born in Conestoga Township, a son of the late John Jacob and Grace Viola Eichley Kipphorn. He worked as a station mechanic for PPL for 35 years, retiring in 1995. After he retired from PPL, he worked as a delivery man for Cash and Carry Electric, Quarryville. Mr. Kipphorn was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, where he coached the church's junior softball team. He was also the caretaker of Bethesda United Methodist Cemetery. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Holtwood Ten Pins Bowling Team at Rocky Springs. Mr. Kipphorn was a member of the Southern Lancaster County Farmer Sportsmen's Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the mountains, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Kipphorn is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary E. Smeltz Kipphorn; three children, Kathryn A., wife of Kenneth R. Findley of Holtwood, Donna L., wife of W. James Hicks of Willow Street, and Harold A. "Butch" Jr., husband of Melissa Kipphorn of Holtwood; two granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Bethesda United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3. Services will be held from the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Larry Rineer officaiting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
