Grace R. Gilbert, 82, of Upper Oxford Twp., entered into rest peacefully at her home on Monday, July 4, 2016. Born in Upper Oxford Twp., she was a daughter of the late Jordan M., and Alice M. (Griffith) Reyburn. She was the loving wife of John W. Gilbert for 53 years. Grace had attended a one-room school house and then graduated from Oxford Area High School in 1951. She was employed at Tidykins Garment Co. in Quarryville. She then became a hairdresser and went on to work at the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center, where she did hair for the W.A.V.E.S. Grace was a skilled homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and taking long walks on her farm. In addition to her husband, Grace is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Gilbert of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, Michael A. Putnick, Jr.; siblings: Mary Bishop, Samuel Reyburn, Sylvia Reyburn, and Margaret Lauer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Reyburn and a brother, Jordan Reyburn, Jr.
A service celebrating Grace’s life will be held at Gap Community Church, 835 Houston Run Dr. Gap, PA 17527 on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30-11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
