Miss Frances Mary Whiteside, 95, of 40 S. Fourth St., Oxford, PA, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Ware Presbyterian Village Nursing Home, Oxford, after an extended illness. Miss Whiteside was born in Lower Oxford, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Rogers Whiteside. She lived in the Oxford area her entire life. She was a 1941 graduate of Oxford Area High School, and attended Goldey Beacom College. Miss Whiteside was employed with Acme Market in Oxford as the head checker for many years, retiring in 1979, after 39 years of service. She was a member of Nottingham Green Stone Presbyterian Church in Nottingham. She had formerly been a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church in Oxford, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed homemaking, reading, gardening and traveling.
She is survived by one sister, Edith Whiteside Hansen of Nottingham; one niece; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Ann Whiteside, Ella Mae Whiteside, and Laura Emily Whiteside. Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Nottingham Presbyterian Church, 497 W. Christine Rd., Nottingham, PA, 19362, officiated by Rev. Merritt Schatz, where friends and family may visit from 1-2 pm. Interment will be in Oxford Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., Oxford, PA.
