Frances M. “Francy” Rush, 99, of New Providence, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the daughter of the late William and Naomi (Bennett) Schneider. She was the loving wife of the late John H. Rush, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1990. Francy was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Rush and 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, John H. Jr., husband of Rebecca Rush of New Providence; two grandsons, Brett, husband of Dawn Rush of New Providence and Chad, husband of Hannah Rush of Nottingham. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren: Jonathon (Alissa) Rush, Jordan (Jessica) Rush, Abigail (Keith) Sassaman and Brooke Rush. Francy was a life-long member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. She loved her church and served faithfully for many, many years; always willing to do whatever needed to be done. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She enjoyed doing things for others, making meals, visiting and taking flowers.
Francy grew up on a farm and worked alongside her husband on the family farm until 1976. In her spare time, she loved gardening, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. She loved baking pies, sugar cookies and hundreds of pecan tarts. Francy spent over twenty years babysitting in her home, giving parents the peace of mind that their children were being loved and well cared for. A celebration of Francy’s life will take place in the Ellingsworth Auditorium at Q.P.R.C., 625 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville, PA on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The family will greet friends form 3-4 p.m. Traditional interment will be private in the Mount Hope United Methodist Cemetery.
