Frances B. “Fran” Metzler, 83, of New Providence, entered into rest unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Born in Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late, Oscar and Anna Mary (Lyons) Bonholtzer. She and her husband Ike S. Metzler had celebrated 61 years of marriage in May. Fran graduated from Quarryville High School in 1950. She went on to work for the former Hubley Co. and also Keppel’s Candy Co. in Lancaster. Fran then worked and retired from the former Bank of Lancaster County after 35 years. Following retirement, Fran and Ike enjoyed traveling, camping, and taking bus tours. She was a very active 81-year member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. Fran also was an active member of the Robert Fulton Chapter #446 Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Vickie of Leola; and a sister, Grace Schantz of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by sisters, Verna and Eve and a brother, Art.
Funeral and Eastern Star services will take place at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. Traditional interment the following day will be private in the Mount Hope United Methodist Cemetery.
