David C. Dickinson "Sporty Dave" a lifelong resident of Cochranville, PA was born on August 10, 1962 and departed on February 3. 2023. He had been facing a host of health troubles over the last few years and was on home dialysis. He attended Octoraro High School and worked for a number of companies over the years including CFM and GAP International. Those travels took him all over the world. Everyone who knew Sporty recognized that he had a gift with engines and systems. As he said, "If it ever ran once, I can make it run again!" He owned and tinkered on any number of old cars and tractors. He was a lifetime member at the Rough and Tumble and never missed a Thresherman's Reunion. Sporty's other true love was music. He almost always had the radio or a CD on and his tastes ran from the Ink Spots to System of a Down. He was never far from one of his guitars. He played with the Gravel Pit Ramblers and other local groups. Sporty specialized in singing Hank Williams and travelled to Alabama quite a few times to play at the annual Hank Williams festival at Hank's boyhood home in Georgiana. Sporty made friends everywhere he went and will be remembered for his gentle nature, his varied interests, and his vibrancy.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan Dickinson of Glenmoore, PA. and many others who will treasure his memory. We hope you can join us for a visitation and short service at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford on Saturday February 18th from 10-12. There will be a wake at his place in late April, date to be announced. Interment will be private. On-line condolences may be made at www.elcollinsfuneralhome.com. Comments are closed.
