On October 31st, Betty Maye Kreider left this earth to join her heavenly family. She was born October 17, 1927 and was the oldest child of W. Percy and Frances (Lefever) Fisher. Formerly from Lancaster, she passed away while residing at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She reached her 91st birthday this year and celebrated 72 years of marriage with her husband Clair in June 2017. She graduated a year early from Quarryville High School because of her excellent student academics. On June 30th, 1945 she married Clair Kreider, Sr. and became a farmer’s wife and a domestic goddess. Along with her farming chores, she loved working in the garden and growing lots of flowers. She was a great cook and loved to sew and quilt. Raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren were the highlights of her life. Her faith was an important part of her life. She taught Sunday School for many years and helped with Vacation Bible School and on the kitchen committee. She and Clair were deacons for years and charter members of the Lampeter Church of the Brethren. She sang duets with Clair and sang in the mixed chorus at Mechanic Grove and Lampeter COB. She was chairwoman of the flower tent for many years at the Solanco Fair. She also enjoyed being a member of the Classy Cardinal Red Hat Ladies. After retiring from the farm life, she went to work and retired from the Solanco Pharmacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clair and her daughter Kathy Williams (Cliff also deceased) and twin brothers Richard and Robert Fisher. She leaves behind 5 children. Clair Jr (Louise) Lititz, Lynda Frutchey (Richard) Quarryville, Dennis (Jill) Quarryville, Keith (Nancy) Quarryville, and Kevin (Kay) Humble, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Jack Fisher (Ann), David Fisher (Brenda deceased) and a sister Doris Burk (Fred Hackman) The families would like to thank all of the staff at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for their loving care and support during the 4 years she resided there. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, November 9th at 11:00 A. M. at the Lampeter Church of the Brethren, 1900 Lampeter Rd., Lampeter, PA. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 and also immediately following the service. Interment will be private and at the discretion of the family.
