Carolyn Biscardi, 75, of New Providence died Monday, December 11 at Lancaster General Hospital12/14/2023
Carolyn Biscardi, age 75 of New Providence and formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Augie Biscardi for 55 years. Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Levina Roberts Popiel. Carolyn served as the past president of the Friends of the Quarryville Library and the secretary for the Pequea Watershed Association. In her free time, she loved baking, fishing, and caring for her 2 miniature horses, goats, chickens and dogs. Mary Elizabeth Winters, 95, known by many as “Sis” passed away at Homestead Village on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Born in Rawlinsville, she was the daughter of the late Adam Lewis and Ella Mae Douts Winters. Mary had been employed by and retired from Buck Iron as a secretary after 48 years of service. Following her retirement she worked part time at the Hallmark Store in Kendig Square. Mary was very family oriented and enjoyed the children of her family. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, having lunch with friends, and attending Rawlinsville Camp Meetings. She attended both Pearl Street and Rawlinsville United Methodist Churches. Joyce Jones Frampton, 78, of Oxford PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023. She passed away at home after a 5-month battle with cancer. She was the wife of Richard Frampton with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in West Jefferson, NC to the late Lonnie and Danis Jones. The family moved to Pennsylvania when Joyce was 10 years old. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford for over 55 years where she joyfully and faithfully served in numerous roles of ministry. She was a fervent prayer warrior for her family, friends, and community. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, working jigsaw puzzles, cooking, baking, and all kinds of crafts. She delighted in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Thomas E. Grier, 85, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Monday, December 11, 2023 at his home. Born in Valley Twp., Chester County, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Zilla Marie (Baker) Grier. He was the husband of Dorothy Marie (Frampton) Grier for 65 years. Thomas retired from Kunzler Meat Co. He loved dogs and spent many years raising Beagles and belonged to several local Beagle clubs. He was also a member of Impact Church in Parkesburg. Ryan A. Kernaghan, 46, of Quarryville, formerly of Millersville, passed away on December 11, 2023. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Jerry A. and Lorraine (Mearns) Kernaghan, of Quarryville. Ryan attended Penn Manor Schools and also attended college in Colorado. For most of his working career, he was employed as a residential painter. An outdoorsman, Ryan loved to walk and explore the outdoors. He also found enjoyment in traveling, watching movies, and listening to music. Ryan was a tinkerer, taking things apart to see how they worked, many times repurposing the item into something useful. To those that knew him, he was brilliant, having a talent for art, creating many works with paint and pencil. Harry D. Gossert, Jr. age 88, of New Providence passed away at Evergreen Estates, Lancaster, PA on Monday, December 11, 2023. He was the husband of the late Joyce Martin Gossert. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Harry D. and June Brandt Gossert, Sr. Harry had a career as an insurance agent for Met Life Insurance Company and Old Guard Insurance Company. Active in his community, he served as president of the White Horse Fire Company, as an auditor for Providence Township, served on the Salisbury election board, and was treasurer of the Salisbury Alumni Association. Roy Edward Overly, 69, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Mildred (Rhoads) Overly and the late William Overly. He was the loving husband of Kim K. (Weaver) Overly for 45 years. Roy had worked as a supervisor for Armstrong Flooring and also spent 5 years working at ALCOA. Roy was a member of Calvary Church in Lancaster and the Lafayette Lions Club. He was a Philadelphia sports fan and also enjoyed cheering for his daughter, Ashleigh when she competed in various sports. Kenneth C. Eshleman, 84, of New Providence, entered into rest at his home on Friday, December 8, 2023. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Carl J., and Theda (Rineer) Eshleman. He was the loving husband of Charlotte P. Eshleman for over 63 years. Ken was a 1956 graduate of Pequea Valley High School and spent the majority of his life living in Refton. He retired from painting at Armstrong World Industries after 31 years and continued to work as a landlord, where he built many lasting relationships over the years. Ken was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed big and small game hunting and loved fishing and walks in the woods. George D. Wolfe, 67, of Ronks entered into rest in Lancaster, PA on Thursday, December 7, 2023. He was the husband of the late Ann Louise Breneman Wolfe. Born in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late Earl Monroe and Emily Jean McMaster Wolfe. George had been employed by J.K. Mechanical and Dale Nolt & Sons Farm. He enjoyed reading his Bible and telling others how Jesus had changed his life. His other enjoyments were gardening, raising rabbits and the Washington Redskins. He is survived by 3 children, Sarah Adams, Glenn Wolfe, Amanda Lingle; and 3 siblings, June, Clarence Wolfe, and Earl Wolfe, Jr. Anthony Palita, 94, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Sunrise, Media, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary Dolores Hefton Palita with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Marcus Hook, PA he was the son of the late Francesco and Lucia Gaudino Palita. Anthony was employed with Sun Oil, Marcus Hook, PA as a lab technician retiring in 1983 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Army Reserves. Anthony was also a member of Sacred Heart Church, Oxford and Oxford Senior Center. |
