Lloyd D. “Butch” Mellinger, 74, of Willow Street, entered into rest on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lloyd K., Jr. and Freda I. (Weidman) Mellinger. He was the loving husband of Lois Ann (Shank) Mellinger for 45 years. Butch had worked as a supervisor for Burnham Corp. in Lancaster for over 40 years. He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, watching movies and taking family trips. F. Norril Smith, 89, of Nottingham, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at home. He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Gaddis Smith. Born in Marion, WV, he was the son of the late Robert and Arietta Kegley Smith. Norril was employed with Mack Resse Mushroom Farm and was formerly employed with his father on his mushroom farm. He was also employed as a farmer. He enjoyed fishing, airplanes, and his family and friends. He is survived by his wife; one brother, Earl Smith (Carol) of Nottingham; and two sisters, Shirley Hall of Oxford and Trudy Titus of Virginia. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Jimmy and Bobby; and three sisters, Libby, Marion and Louise. Susan G. Susan G. Kauffman, age 54, of Quarryville, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of Brian G. Kauffman for over 27 years. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of William E. and Joanne M. Pollock Good of Gap. Susan was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church and worked in the Kinzers and Paradise Post Office for 28 years where she loved serving her customers. She enjoyed collecting anything Goofy-related and doing Sudoku. Every evening she was home, you could catch her watching M. A. S. H. and/or game shows. June Maxine Roland, 74, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. Born in West Grove, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Louise Reyburn Roland. Maxine loved spending time with her family, going on Facebook and playing soduko puzzles. She is survived by three children, Mark Alan Mellinger, Sr. (Melanie Ann) of Peach Bottom, Tonja Wallace (Bill) of Oxford and Chastity Hardmon (Luis) of Drumore; four grandchildren, Billy, Kortney, Talynn and Brennan; ten great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Jerry Roland, Jeff Roland and Yvonne Hershey and Judy Jobe. William R. "Bill" Shuler, 78, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William Reese Shuler and Edna Christine (Tice) Shuler. Bill had worked for RCA as an electronics engineer for over 35 years. He was the past president of the Wakefield Lions Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Lake Ontario. Bill was a talented chef and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charles (Bill) Robert Keys, 85 from Nottingham, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was the husband of the late Katherine Margaret Patrick Keys with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Bill was born in Oxford, PA to William and Lona Miller Keys. He is survived by one sister and has been preceded in death by 10 other brothers and sisters. Bill has 3 daughters: Barbara Keys-Dunn from Fair Hill, MD, Charlotte Ann Keys from Fair Hill, MD and Brenda Keys from Nottingham. He has 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Kenneth Lee Hurley, 84, of Nottingham, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving granddaughters Shannonand Nicole Hurley on Thursday, December 2, 2021. He is preceded in death by his beautiful God-fearing wife Essie Hurley. He was a hardworking and dedicated self-employed roofer. Kenneth was an avid musician playing many instruments but most loved the banjo and guitar. He and his brothers and late wife played in a family band Midnight Special. He was a man of God who loved the Lord and cherished every moment with his family. He was his happiest when singing with his brothers and playing music. Pearl E. Johnson, 85, of New Providence, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles G. Johnson, sharing 45 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2000. Born in Holtwood, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. and Minnie (Hammond) Farmer. Pearl worked in retail her entire life, retiring from Kmart with over 30 years of service. Being a good employee, Kmart asked her to work part-time in her retirement, and she continued to work there until she was 83. Bethesda United Methodist Church was a big part of Pearl’s life, being a 55-year member and active in the Bethesda Women’s Society. Having a servant’s heart, she volunteered with Solanco Meals On Wheels and would always give help where it was needed. Pearl was an active bowler for her entire life and she enjoyed traveling by motorcycle with her husband. She had a love for reading books, a trait she passed on to her daughters, and they regularly passed books between them. Through the good and the bad, she was a faithful follower of the Phillies. Ralph Roten, 94, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021. He was born in Keystone, West Virginia in 1927. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annis (Miller) Roten and sons, David and Robert. He is survived by 4 children: Daniel, Shirley, Rita Sue and Steve. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Roy. There was nothing of greater importance in Ralph’s life than family. Ralph served in the U.S. Army in 1953 at Fort Jackson, S.C. He has as always been a dedicated patriot. Benjamin Littlejohn Brown, 31, of Lancaster went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his home. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was the son of Matthew H. and Mary Catherine (Green) Brown. He was the loving husband of Jasmine C. (Franklin) for 7 years. Benjamin had a deep abiding faith in the Lord. He loved reading C.S. Lewis and was a member of Crossway Church in Millersville. |
