Hazel H. Graham, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born on April 23, 1925 in Smyth County., VA, she was the daughter of the late George and Carrie (Combs) Howell. Hazel was a member of Baptist View Church, Forrest Hill, MD. Hazel was an industrious, hard worker and loved reading, gardening, and walking. When she was young, she really enjoyed roller skating at Rocky Springs. She also enjoyed writing poetry, including writing a class poem for her high school graduating class. Two stories she wrote appeared in “I know a Story” in the Lancaster Sunday News. She collected dolls. For several years she enjoyed holding a huge yard sale over Labor Day weekend. Her family was very important to her. Her bright, beautiful smile was once described as “when Hazel smiles her eyes twinkle.” Hazel retired from QPRC in 1987 after 19 years of service. During WWII she worked at Armstrong Cork Company in the Army shell section. Over the succeeding years she was employed at Penn Dairies, Jane Louise Candy, Miesse Candies, Hubley Toy, Tidy Sewing Factory and Buffalo Molded Plastics. Abner Gray Musser, Jr. 99, of 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, formerly of Holtwood passed away at Mennonite Home on December 6th. He was the husband of Ellen Rohrer Musser and enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Born in South Bend, Indiana on October 25, 1917, Ab was the son of the late Abner G. Musser, Sr. and Esther M. Zeamer Musser. Surviving in addition to his wife Ellen are four children, Patricia married to Rine Neff, Michael married to Jean Wagner Musser, Abner “Skip” Musser, and Scott married to Lauren Herr Musser. He was extremely proud of being Pappy to his eleven grandsons, Gray Musser, Greg Musser, Nathan Musser, Michael Musser, Eric Musser, Matthew Musser, Brian Musser, Andrew Neff, Alex Neff, Brent Musser and John Neff, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Charlotte Garner Musser. He was preceded in death by brothers John and Benjamin and sister, Ruth Musser Shenk. Ab proudly served as an Army Air Corp and Air Force Veteran of 12 years as a 1st Lt. with the 445th Bomb Squadron, 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force in England. He flew 26 missions of which 16 were on a lead crew as a Bombardier in a B-24. He received the D.F.C. 5 Air Medals, Purple Heart and numerous Campaign Medals. He also served in Puerto Rico, Panama, Guatemala C.A., Ecuador, S.A. He was a member of the American Legion and life member of Veteran of Foreign Wars. Ab enjoyed travel by freighter to foreign countries and visited all but 3 states in the United States by auto. One of his greatest joys was taking his sons and grandsons to the 40th Bombardier reunions. George B. Flora, 76, of Eden Road, Quarryville PA, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Katherine Varner Flora. They had celebrated 18 years of marriage.
George was born in Shippensburg PA, a son of the late Paul and Marjorie Rosenberry Flora. George was a retired truck driver, and had worked for several local businesses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had also owned and operated Flora’s Bait and Tackle Shop, Quarryville. Always the “clown”, George enjoyed tormenting and clowning with his family and friends. Kathy Louise Eshleman, 59, of New Providence, died at LGH on Monday, November 28, 2016 after a long illness. She was the wife of Jesse R. Eshleman for over 41 years. She was a graduate of Solanco High School, Class of 1974. Kathy was employed in various roles in farm equipment industry offices until her illness. She was a member of New Providence Church of God. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late David A. Wiley; and Janice Eileen (Gilbert) Wiley of Quarryville; and Robert Eugene Allison of Lancaster. |
