Lake E. Sexton, 59, was born on May 5th 1957 he went home to be with the Lord on December 18th 2016. Lake loved our Sovereign Lord. He was a part of Youth with a Mission after he got saved where he fell in love with his wife Franziska of Switzerland. He was an English teacher who traveled the world living in Asia, Europe & North America. A man full of compassion who could one minute talk with the homeless at ease and the next, a wealthy professor. There were no boundaries for him when it came to sharing Christ's love with people. Sonja L. Stoltzfus, 50, of Paradise PA, passed away on December 20, 2016. She was the wife of Ronald E. Stoltzfus. She and Ron had celebrated 7 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster PA, Sonja was the daughter of the late Marty and Theda Hughes Hackart. Sonja enjoyed the beach, crafts her family and friends. She was always one to take in “strays”, both animals and people. Lester Todd Jr., 72, of Horseshoe Lane, Nottingham, PA died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his residence. Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late Lester and Katherine Griffith Todd, Sr. Lester had been employed by Powl’s Feed for 30 years. Following his employment there he drove milk truck. He was an avid deer hunter and bagged 62 deer over his life time. He also owned and was very proud of his restored 1955 Chevy Bel-Air which he called his “Little Firecracker”. Howard N. “Pete” Kilgore, 84, of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away at his home, December 13, 2016. He was the husband of Ann Roten Kilgore. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage. Pete was born in York County PA, son of the late Harry C. and Myrtle Barret Kilgore. A lifelong farmer, Pete was “King of the Counter” at the Valley View Restaurant. He enjoyed coon and small game hunting, tractors, pro wrestling and blue grass music. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Kim Church, Sherri (David) Bleacher, Keith (Michele) Kilgore, all of Peach Bottom, PA., 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; his fur baby, Frankie, a sister, Margaret (Peggy), wife of Wesley “Whitie” Tout of Bear, DE. James G. Waltman, 56, of Drumore, entered into rest on Monday, December 12, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clair G. and Nettie (Bleacher) Waltman. Jim and his wife, Lisa (Probst) Waltman had celebrated 34 years of marriage in August. Prior to his illness, Jim worked for LSWMA. He graduated from Solanco High School in 1979. Jim was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, Washington Lodge #156 F & AM, and Pequea Sportsman’s. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder of the Hershey Bears and a car owner and enthusiast of Micro Sprint Racing. He enjoyed traveling throughout America along with hunting and fishing. After being a permanent fixture in the Kirkwood area, Darrell went home to be with his Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. There he will once again be re-united with his forever missed mother and father, the late Letta and Fred Girvin also of Kirkwood, PA Darrell was a unique person that always had a friendly smile and a hello wave for anyone he came across. Darrell celebrated his 72nd birthday last Saturday, December 10th. He was a 1963 graduate of Solanco High School and a retired night watchman. He enjoyed attending the Quarryville Senior Center, where many friends became his everyday family including the bus drivers! To all that knew Darrell, he was an avid rifle and hunting sportsman. No squirrel was too safe in the woods that bordered his property. He was also a Grand Champion of history and trivial pursuit! He enjoyed any gathering that included friends, music, laughter and FOOD! He was a member of the Northeast Church of God, with Pastor Ralph Massie. He also enjoyed other local churches and services when he had the opportunity. Alice Goodrich, 86, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Laura (Parsons) Davidson. She was married for 67 years to the late Richard Goodrich. Alice and her late husband enjoyed traveling all over the world. She enjoyed reading, coloring, and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren Ralph Mason Layman, longtime Quarryville resident, departed this life on December 9, 2016, of natural causes at age 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Miriam Drumm Layman, sons Peter (Bangor, PA), John (Birdsboro, Pa), and James (Medford, MA), and four grandchildren who cherish his memory. Mr. Layman was born in Sayre, Pa. He served in both theaters of World War II in the United States Navy. Mr. Layman obtained B.S. and M.S degrees from the Pennsylvania State University and taught Agricultural Education in Brookville, Pa, and then the Solanco High School. He completed his educational career as Director of Lancaster County Career and Technology Centers (formerly Vo-Tech). Mary E. Boynes, 97, of Lancaster died December 8, 2016 at Golden Living. Born in Peach Bottom, PA she was the daughter of the late Orville and Harriet E. Milburn Wilson.
Mae M. Simon, 90, of Barr Road, New Providence, PA went to be with her husband and her Lord on Friday, December 9, 2016 at her residence. She was the widow of Lester Vernon Simon, Sr. who died July 29, 2002. Born in Drumore, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Minnie Graybill Armstrong. Mae was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Quarryville. Earlier in life she worked at the former Stehli’s Silk Mill. She when worked with her husband in his vacuum and sewing sales and service business. She enjoyed doing puzzles and genealogy. |
