Donald H. Reich Sr., age 76 of Airville, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Valentine R. Reich Sr. and Mary Madlem Reich. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He is survived by a son, Donald H. Reich Jr., and his life long partner, Joy Brown of Brogue, 5 grandchildren: Nicole Reich of Airville, Eric Reich (Britny) of Airville, Chasity wife of Zach Goodman of Delta, Heather Reich and Makenzy Reich both of Brogue, a step grandson, Craig Thomas of Lancaster, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 sister-in-laws: Pam Reich and Alice Reich both of New Providence. Elsie K. Smoker, age 96, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was born in Allensville, PA, on September 10, 1927, to Samuel P. & Arie Y. Peachey Yoder. She married Sylvan K. Smoker on January 11, 1947; he passed away on August 14, 2020. She was a member of Millwood Mennonite Church of Gap, where she was involved with the sewing circle, greeter and custodian. In the past she was a member of Andrews Bridge & Newlinville Mennonite Church. In the past she had worked at Harrison House of Christiana in various positions. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, gardening and playing games. Eva W. Widdowson, 97, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community.
She was the wife of the late Gilbert W. Widdowson, Sr., sharing 55 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2002. Born in Media, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Pew) Worst. Eva was a graduate of Swarthmore High School, class of 1944. For most of her life she raised her family and cared for her home. In addition, she was a farmer’s wife and worked at the family farm in Little Britain. Michele M. Michele M. “Grammy” Read, 72, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Huntingdon Valley, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Claire (Kestel) Heintz. She was the loving wife of Thomas W. Read for 44 years. Michele was a Teacher’s Aide at Valley Christian School in Huntingdon Valley for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her “babies”. She was known for her gentle and joyful spirit and her smile and laughter would always fill the room. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and also enjoyed reading and spending time in Ocean City, N.J. In light of her generosity and giving spirit, Michele became a donor to help the blind and give the gift of sight to those in need. Patricia Ann Javes, age 84 of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late S. Milton and Kathryn Townsend Myer. She loved her family and enjoyed supporting and attending anything her grandkids and great grandkids were involved in. She is survived by 3 sons: Corey Wiggins, husband of Julie, of Peach Bottom, Brandon Wiggins of Quarryville, Collin Wiggins of Lancaster, 2 grandsons: Jason and Derek, and 3 great grandchildren: Shaun, Ben and Elena. David M. Prange, 72, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lester K. and Mary Jane “Polly” (Patton) Prange. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley M. Prange for almost 50 years. Dave worked as a truck driver and a shop mechanic and eventually became President of L.M. Prange Trucking Co., his family’s company which has been in business for close to 90 years. Dave was a wonderful husband and father and could always be counted on to help with anything his family needed. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dave enjoyed watching the Phillies, playing golf and spending time at the beach. Dolores A. Brock, age 65, of Quarryville, PA, passed away at her home on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was the wife of Raymond K. Brock, with whom she celebrated 42 years of marriage on October 10th. She was born in Allentown, PA, daughter of the late C. Richard & Erma N. Lapp Myers. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, baking, reading Gladys Taber books and her cats. |
