Dawn M. Charles Sexton, 80, of Oxford, PA passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at her side on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at home. She was the wife of Robert E. Sexton with whom she shared over 57 years of marriage. Born December 11, 1939 in the city of Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Mildred Ruth Charles. She moved to Chester County early in life. Dawn attended one room schools until 1954 when she enrolled to Oxford Area High School and graduated with Bob class of 1958. She was employed with various jobs over the years. She was well known as an immaculate house keeper and gardener. Her grandchildren often said, “We could eat off of mom-mom’s floors”. They would also rave about her lasagna and french toast and Thanksgiving dinners. George A. Gordon, Jr., 78, formerly of Peach Bottom, died at the home of his daughter, Michele, in Delta, York County, PA on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. He and his wife Carolyn Kobar Gordon celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late George A. and Alma A. Heiser Gordon. George worked in the banking industry as a real estate appraiser, retiring from Santander Bank. A US Army veteran, he served stateside during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church and the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball (Atlanta Braves), and football (Dallas Cowboys and Penn State). He also enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling. Geraldine Sturgill, age 73 of Cochranville, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Jennersville Hospital. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Perella DiObilda. She graduated from Coatesville High School. She worked in the Chester County Courthouse until retirement. In her free time, Geraldine loved doing floral crafts, reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren. Sharron L. Sharron L. Creegan, age 75 of Lancaster, passed away at the Mount Joy Hospice Center on Sunday, November 8, 2020, after a hard fought battle with bone marrow cancer. She was the wife of the late Raymond Creegan. Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Witson and Phyllis Lauretta Slradel Townsend. Sharron graduated from Coatesville High School. She worked in sales. She was a member of Pathway Institute for Life Long Learning at Landis Homes. In her free time, Sharron loved traveling, reading, jazz music, sewing, going out to eat, working in her garden and flower bed, her cats, rescuing dogs and cats, restoring old homes and doing interior decorating, restoring old furniture, collecting antiques and Utrillo paintings, going to Mt. Gretna and Longs Park for outdoor concerts, going on house tours, going to New York for bus trips, going to Chicago to visit her friend Rick, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends of all ages, and watching her great grandchildren overnight. Robert H. Miller, age 94 of Quarryville, PA passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of the late Beverly J. Miller who passed away on February 19, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, and growing up in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Coleman and Helen Marie Hertler Miller. He was a member of Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Draper, VA. Robert graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering and from MIT with a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering. James D. James D. Stoltzfus, Sr. age 64 of Parkesburg, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Brandywine Hospital. He was the husband of Cindy Lewis Stoltzfus with whom he was happily married to since 1983. Born in Cochranville, he was the son of the late John and Susie Stoltzfus Stoltzfus. Jim was a member of Gap Community Church and was a committed follower of Christ. He graduated from Octorara Area High School. Jim was a farm equipment mechanic and a part owner of Stoltzfus Farm Service. In his free time, he loved tinkering on equipment and completing his honey-do list. Robert B. “Bobby” Caldwell, age 60 of Peach Bottom and formerly of Marion, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the companion of Kathy Roland. Born in Conowingo, MD, he was the son of the late Elbert N. and S. Kathleen Pennington Caldwell. Bobby was an auto mechanic before he retired. In his free time, he loved fishing, cooking out, and working on vehicles. Rhoda Lefever Feister, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, November 8 at her home. She was the wife of the late Alvin L. Feister who died in 2016. Born in Paradise, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Nora Reeser Lefever. She graduated from Paradise High School, Class of 1949. Rhoda was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise. She previously worked in the Paradise Post Office as a mail carrier, drove school bus and worked in several nursing homes. Grace Anna Reed, 93, of Quarryville, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her home. She was the wife of the late Raymond “Eugene” Reed, sharing 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2009. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (McCrabb) Brown. Grace was a graduate of Quarryville High School, class of 1944. After marrying Eugene, she spent many years caring for her husband and family. Grace was a woman of great strength and determination. Within a span of 4 ½ years she gave birth to five children (one individual and two sets of twins). Richard Gary Homer, of Drumore, went home to heaven on November 5, 2020. He was 71 years old. Born in Ellsworth, Maine, he was the son of the late Benjamin Rich Homer and Katherine (Somers) Homer Hofer. Richard and his wife, Miriam (Anderson) Homer, were married for forty-eight years. Rick worked at a variety of occupations throughout his life, including head custodian of Wells Elementary School in Maine, maintenance worker on submarines at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and as custodian at the Southeastern New Hampshire Christian Academy in Somersworth. |
