Clayton L. “Clayt” Frackman, age 90, of Willow Valley Communities and formerly of Strasburg passed away peacefully at the Glen at Willow Valley on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He and his wife Joyce E. Reinfried Frackman celebrated 70 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Mable Winters Frackman. Clayt was an active and lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg where he participated in the Young at Heart Sunday School class, Men’s Prayer Breakfast and served as an Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Junior High Youth leader. A life long butcher, he was a partner in F & S Meats which later became Frack’s Meats. Michael T. Calhoun, age 57, of Quarryville, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He was the companion of Lori J. Blair Simmons. He was born in Jennersville, PA, son of the late Donald G. Sr. & Janet Umble Calhoun. He worked as a mason for KLB Masonry of Lititz. He enjoyed shooting billiards and riding motorcycle. George R. Aukamp, 97, of Willow Street, PA, passed away on February 5, 2024, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Betty A. (Souders) Aukamp, with whom he shared 68 years together before her passing in 2015. George was born to Robert N. and Esther M. (Eckman) Aukamp on February 20, 1926, in New Providence, Lancaster County. He graduated from Quarryville High School, Quarryville, PA, in 1943. George proudly served in the United States Marine Corps 4th Marine Division, 23rd Marines, A Company during World War II. George was trained as a Flame Thrower Operator and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was seriously injured in the battle and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Asiatic Pacific Operation, and Good Conduct medals for his actions. He returned to Lancaster County after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps where he was a self-employed painter for 6 years. He went to work at Pennsylvania Power & Light (PP&L) in 1952 and worked there for 34 years before retiring as a Land Manager in 1986. David L. Esh, age 47 of 815 A North Old Road, Strasburg, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home.
He was the husband of Fannie S. Fisher Esh. Born in Paradise, he was the son of Jonathan S. and Malinda S. Lapp Esh of Nottingham. David was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. June M. McMichael, 87, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at home. She was the wife of the late Frederick E. McMichael, Sr. with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Little Britain Twp., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lucretia Mylin Cregger. She was formerly employed as a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone. June was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Oxford. She enjoyed bus trips. June played the piano for many years and enjoyed playing at her churches. Eugene Rohrer Witmer, 96, died on February 3, 2024, in Lititz PA. He was born on September 26, 1927, in Soudersburg, eldest child of the late Caleb W. and Elizabeth Heller (Rohrer) Witmer. He was predeceased by his wife of over 70 years, Anne E. (Stoltzfus) Witmer, in November 2019, and a son, Jon Kent Witmer, in October 1978. Surviving are two sons, Daryl E. Witmer (Mary) of Monson, ME, and Randall D. Witmer (Glenda) of Lititz, and a daughter, Gina A. Plain (John) of Quarryville; 10 grandchildren: Andrew Witmer (Maureen), Stephen Witmer (Emma), Timothy Witmer (Amy), Kristin Reardon (Travis), Jeffrey Witmer (Brenna), Rebecca Graham (Joel), Kara Miller (Michael), John Plain, Caleb Plain (Jessica), and Adalie Plain; and 23 great-grandchildren.. Also surviving are brothers, C. Donald Witmer (Irene), Melvin Witmer (Barbara), and sister, E. Marlene Groff. Eugene grew up in Soudersburg. He married Anne in 1949. For seventeen years they lived near Atglen PA. They moved to Smoketown in 1975 and then to Brethren Village Retirement Community in Lititz in 2013. Joanna B. Trimble, 92, of Garden Spot Village and formerly of Wakefield died Thursday, February 12/5/2024
Joanna B. (Barr) Trimble, 92, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland and formerly of Wakefield, entered into rest at her home on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Joanna and her husband, the late John J. (Jack) Trimble, were married for over 55 years until his death in December 2007. Joanna was born in Chrome, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Theo S. (Weaver) Barr and James Raymond Barr. Joanna graduated from Goldey Commercial College, Wilmington, Delaware in February 1951 after successfully completing coursework in General Office Training. Jack and Joanna were married in December 1951. She was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church. John Charles Harrison, 80, of Holtwood, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024, while at home with his family at his side. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Rowene (Hunt) Harrison. He was the adoring husband of Harriet S. (Fleming) Harrison with whom he had just celebrated 58 years of marriage. John graduated from Delaware Valley University with a B.S. in Dairy Husbandry. He was a member of Oakwood Mennonite Church, where he had served as pastor since 1991. John had also worked as the farm manager for Twin Gap Farm in Mt. Bethel, PA for 15 years. He loved teaching others, a gift he used as the high school science teacher at Faith Mennonite High School in Kinzers for 38 years. John enjoyed volunteering with local ministries and interacting with young people, always encouraging them to follow Jesus. He enjoyed working on small engines and helping those in need. He also loved spending time with his family. Marguerite M. McCauley, age 89, formerly of Drumore, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Robert W. “Pete” McCauley who passed away on September 29, 2010. Born in Elkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herbert William and Sarah Douglas Weaver. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Marguerite loved spending time with her family more than anything. Carol Wallace Edwards, 68, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. She was the wife of Stephen B. Edwards with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Betty Kauffman Wallace. She had a deep love for animals and her dogs. Carol enjoyed dancing and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and the outdoors. She was also an immaculate house keeper and thrifty. She is survived by her husband; two children, Victoria Elaine Galloway (Kevin) and Daniel B. Proffitt; five grandchildren, Derek, Dagan, Brandon, Caileigh and Cameron; one great-grandchild, Rhiley Ray Stetler; and two brothers, John Wallace (Connie) and Donald Wallace (Penny). |
