Roy F. Smeltz, 78, of Holtwood PA, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. He was the husband of Doris L. Henry Smeltz. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage. Roy was a mechanic, and had retired after over 30 years with the former Landis Brothers, and Deere Country, Lancaster. He was a lifetime member of the former Pequea Fire Company, and had also belonged to the Rawlinsville Fire Company. He enjoyed attending Rough and Tumble events, and mud sales. Turkey hunting in Perry Co. was something he looked forward to every year. R. Mitchell Huber, 66, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Carol Dean (Owen) Huber and the late Richard M. Huber. He was the loving husband of Avis Aument Huber for over 44 years. Mitch had owned and operated Hackman Roofing, Morrison Excavating, and Ecotech Hydro Excavation. He was an active member of Providence Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Always active in the community, Mitch was a member of the following organizations: Washington Lodge # 156 F. &A.M., Robert Fulton Chapter of the Eastern Star # 446, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Goodwin Council # 19, Lancaster Commandry, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine and Royal Arch # 43. Dennis Eugene Carrigan, 69, formerly of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Paramount Senior Living and now is in the arms of Jesus, his Savior. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late H. Eugene and Alice M. (White) Carrigan. Dennis resided at Friendship Community for many years, recently moving to Paramount. Dennis was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church and a member of the Friendship Community Worship Team. He knew and could recite scripture and frequently had a beautiful prayer on his lips. Dennis enjoyed antique car shows, looking at car magazines, listening to gospel and country music and taking city bus rides. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Robert M. Delancy, a resident since July 2007 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, passed away on January 29, 2020, at age 91. Born on January 1, 1929, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Myrna (Stitzinger) Delancy. He was a long-time member of Calvary Independent Church of New Castle. Mr. Delancy was a graduate of New Castle Senior High School, class of 1947. He then attended Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC, receiving a B.A. degree in 1951 and a B.D. (Bachelor of Divinity) degree in 1953. In 1957 he earned a S.T.M. (Master of Sacred Theology) degree from Faith Theological Seminary, located then in Elkins Park, near Philadelphia. Later, he spent a year at Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas. Ministries with which Mr. Delancy served for a year each include: Fishers of Men, Washington, D.C.; Immanuel College of the Bible, Wheeling, WV; New Life Boys’ Ranch, Harleysville, PA. Then for three years he traveled extensively, booking meetings at churches for Mr. Ted Dencher, a convert from the Jehovah’s Witnesses. |
