Park Pickell Prange, 83, of Kirkwood, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was the husband of Hazel Wells Prange. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. His parents were Lester M. and Blanche Pickell Prange. Park was the father of 3 sons, Park Lyn (Cathy), Gary (Marlene) and Alan (Karen). He was a wonderful Pappy to his 7 grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley), Jeffrey Park (Janna), Joseph (Kayla), Joshua (Lorin), Philip (Kayla), Amanda Roop (Steven) and Aleena Prange. He also had 6 great grandchildren, Logan Park, Beckett, Savannah, Madison and Talon Prange, and Jamison Roop. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Faye (Sam) Reinhart and Shirley (Alan) Graver. He was predeceased by a brother, Lester Kenneth. Harold James Palmatier, 95, left this earth to join his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. He was born in Niskayuna, New York, the eighth and last survivor of nine children, to Clinton and Sara Palmatier. Because of the death of his mother during his childhood and a largely absent father he was raised by his older brothers and sisters.
In March 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in nearly continuous combat in a light mortar section for three years. He fought in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany and was in General George Patton's 3rd U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge. In his later years, whenever he was asked if he was tired, he would reply, "No, I walked all the way across Europe." David W. Roseboro, 96, of Peach Bottom went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February 6, 2020 in Paoli, PA. He lived a great full life. He was an Eagle Scout, a WWII Battle of the Bulge Combat Army Veteran, and married his high school sweetheart. He was a graduate of West Chester University and University of Pennsylvania, taught high school Health and Physical Education, and coached many high school sports. While in Arizona, he coached a high school basketball team to win the State Championship. He was an avid bow and small game hunter, a creative woodworker, and an avid reader. In retirement, he served as President of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge group of Lancaster, PA, and also served as President of the Octorara Art Association. Doris M. Wiggins Groff, 90, formerly of Village Road, Lancaster, died Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Conestoga View, Lancaster, PA. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Groff who died June 11, 2016. Born in Drumore she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Maude Beach Wiggins Sr. Doris was a member of New Providence Church of God. She enjoyed attending Gospel concerts, and playing games. She is survived by nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by 9 siblings. Carol A. Stauffer, 64, of Oakridge Court, Lebanon, PA died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Dorothea Louise Seig Houpt, and the late Donald Levi Houpt. Carol had been employed at Vision Corps, in Lancaster and Lebanon for 46 years as a customer service specialist. She was a former member of Lancaster Lions Club. She loved her cats, unicorns, going to the mountains, and traveling, especially Jamaica. David F. Underwood, Sr., 65, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Cochranville, PA, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Pembrooke Health & Rehab Center, West Chester, PA. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Hutzler Underwood. Born in West Grove, PA he was the son of Bertie Willis Underwood of Cochranville, PA and the late Luther Underwood, Jr. David graduated from Octorara High School class of 1973. He attended Christ’s Chapel Full Gospel Assembly Church, Parkesburg, PA. David was formerly employed with Tyson Foods, New Holland, PA and McFalls Manufacturing, Parkesburg, PA. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, wrestling, roller derby, fishing, puzzles and playing cards. Nancy T. Renier, 85, of Quarryville, entered into rest on February 5, 2020. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Horace P. and Evelyn M. (Dinsmore) Tollinger. She was the loving wife of the late Lee Roy Renier for 29 years. Nancy was a 1952 graduate of Solanco High School. She went on to work for Hubley Toys in Lancaster and then retired from Exide Battery after 20 years of employment. She was a member of the Ancient Order of the Croaking Frog. Nancy enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and traveling with Lee. Daniel Watkins Taylor, age 90, passed away on January 29, 2020, in Willow Street, Pennsylvania, where he resided for the past seven years. Born on July 3, 1929, in East Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of Robert Mitchell Taylor, MD, and Margaret Lyles Watkins Taylor. Daniel had a brother, Robert Mitchell Taylor II, late of Branford, Connecticut. Daniel attended the Choate School, in the class of 1947, and went on to study English at Washington and Lee University, graduating in 1952. After college, he became a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Delta and the USNS General John Pope during the Korean War. He was released from active duty in 1954. A gifted and prodigious writer and photographer, Daniel began his career as a reporter several newspapers from 1954-1959: The Times Herald (Middletown, NY), the Hartford Courant (CT), and the Washington Evening Star (DC). Charles Edward Lawrie, 83, of Christiana, PA, formerly of Oxford, PA, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Jennersville Hospital, West Grove, PA. He was the husband of Cora E. Hohn Lawrie. Born in West Grove, PA he was the son of the late Samuel Charles and Sarah Pauline Wilson Lawrie. Charles owned and operated Lawrlane Farm in East Nottingham Township, and Lawrie Burger Bus hauling for 30 years. He was a founding member of the Chesco Buyers Group. He enjoyed bowling, salmon fishing, motorcycles, NASCAR and tractor pulls. Kathleen Dolores Murray, 87, died Monday, February 3, 2020 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Harry E. Murray who died November 3, 1991. Born in South Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George S. and Jennie May Gillen Griffith. She moved to Southwest Philadelphia, then to King of Prussia, and then to Ronks, and has been at QPRC since 2006. Kathleen worked for various businesses throughout her life, working mostly in clerical, accounting, and clerking positions. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg. She was active in church functions, helping at bazaars, sales, working in the kitchen, and as a greeter. |
