MaryRuth Johnson, 61, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Jennersville Hospital, West Grove, PA. She was the wife of Paul A. Johnson with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. Born in Chatham, PA she was the daughter of the late Alden and Naomi Frank Schetrompf. She was a member of the Oxford Church of the Nazarene and Cape May Holiness Association Erma Camp Meeting. Michael Edward Watson, 48, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Oxford, PA, on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Michael was the son of Harry Leroy and Ethel Crawford Watson. Michael was born on May 30, 1971 at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was a graduate of Oxford Area High School, Oxford, PA. He began working for various restaurants as a cook, then sous chef. With over 20 years of experience, Mike began to excel as a profession and created new menu items for employers. Danny L. Adams, 71, of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Frankfort, IN, he was the son of the late Hubert H. Adams and the late Emma L. (Sallee) Hancottee. Danny was a career truck driver, having been employed by Lester M. Prange and most recently for Fast Track Express Trucking. After retiring from truck driving, he provided transportation to the Amish, making many friends in the Amish community. Danny always had an interest in cars and he was a NHRA drag racing enthusiast. He spent a lot of time at Cecil County Dragway and he also watched drag racing events on TV. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and listening to old-school country music. Danny loved his family, and his daughter and grandchildren affectionately called him “Grampy”. He was known for his good sense of humor. Having resisted getting a pet cat for many years, Danny finally gave in and acquired a cat, Gusman Adams, and they became inseparable friends. Myrtle M. Walker, 88, of Christiana, entered into rest on Friday, January 3, 2020 at her home. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Amos L. and Anna (Lemon) Sheaffer. She was married to the late Earl G. Walker, who died in 1995. Myrtle was a farm girl at heart. She loved spending time outdoors working in her flowerbeds, vegetable gardening, hunting, and fishing. She had coached the Bart-Colerain Elementary School baseball team. Virginia Dunham Loch, age 82, of Holtwood, formerly of Yardley, PA, went to be with her Lord on December 14 at her home. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Loch. Surviving is a daughter Kathleen married to Jeffrey Lizotte. Two grandchildren, Cassandra married to Darin Zook and Caitlin married to Jeremy Gibson and two great grandchildren. William R. “Bill” Farrell, 82, of Fayetteville, NY and Quarryville, PA passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020. Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Baye (Hoyer) Farrell. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judith (Chapman) Farrell. He lived in Syracuse and graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School. He graduated from Catholic University in Washington D.C. and Syracuse University and served in the United States Army. Bill taught Latin and History and coached several sports teams as Fayetteville Manlius High School for 34 years. He was also active in Solanco Youth Basketball. Ernest L. Todd Jr., 63, of Quarryville PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Margaret Groff Todd. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bernice Mimm Todd. Ernie was employed at Y & S Candies, Lancaster. He enjoyed working on cars, and was always willing to help other people. Noreen C. Howard, 80, of New Providence, died on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at home. She was the wife of John E. “Jack” Howard, to whom she was married for 29 years. Born July 7, 1939, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Joan King. She was a 1957 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. Also surviving are three children, Gregory Mauro, husband of Nina, of Yardley, Diane Mauro, of Mount Wolf, and Maria Shea, wife of Brian, of Hanover; three grandchildren, Jonathan Mauro, Abigale Mauro, and Bridget Shea; a brother, Robert King, of Harrisburg; and nieces and nephews. Brenda Gleason, 57, of Osceola Road, Drumore PA died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Brenda was born in Lancaster and was the wife of William Charles “Chuck” Gleason for 7 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband David Gregory Wise. For 20 years she operated her own daycare business and then was employed as a courier for Lancaster General Hospital. Oliver R. Sheaffer, 86, formerly of Drumore and Lancaster, peacefully passed away with his family by his side at Moravian Manor on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Oliver was the beloved husband of Joyce (Dengler) Sheaffer, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Quarryville, Oliver was son of the late Rollie G. and Eva Mae (Kreider) Sheaffer. He was a 1951 graduate of Solanco High School. Driving a tractor from the age of 8, Oliver spent his early years working on the family farms. He later worked 20+ years with the State Parks through the PA Department of Environmental Resources, retiring in 1993. |
