Mickey L. Miller, 54, of Kirkwood PA, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was the husband of Cynthia Sheets Miller. They had celebrated 30 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster PA, a son of Sue Mowery Miller of Christiana, PA, and the late Lloyd E. Miller. Also known by his nickname “Stinger”, Mickey was a heavy equipment operator for Andrews Excavating, where he had worked for 35 years. Mickey enjoyed racing micro midget cars, and had raced with the Blackbird micro midget club for 12 years. He also enjoyed deer hunting and farming. Fern Ivy Leonard, 86, of Pequea, entered into rest on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Lancashire Hall. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Ivy (Rathski) Wagner. She was married to the late George W. Leonard, Jr. who died in 1999. Fern had worked as an assembler for the former Hubley Toy Co. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, watching soap operas and spending time with her family and her dog, baby. Fern is survived by her children: Norman Leonard of Pequea; Barry, wife of Ruth Leonard of New Providence; Michael, husband of Tina Leonard of Pequea; and Kathy Cooper of Pequea; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Ethel Grandle, Shirley Stokes, Marilyn Pizarro, and Earl Wagner. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and John Wagner. Lloyd David Strubel, 71, of New Providence, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born September 30, 1946, he was the son of the late Lloyd Sr., and Julia Rhoads Strubel. He was the husband of Beverly Cheek Strubel. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Lloyd is survived by 3 sons, Leslie, partner Susan Blanchard, Bradley, Kevin, husband of Teresa; 6 grandchildren, Megan Juisti (Tyler), Tara Strubel, Tori Strubel, Justin Strubel, Kristin Strubel, Collin Strubel,; great granddaughter, Kayli Cornett; sister, Judith Rambo (Robert); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Morgan Strubel. Dorotha May Doherty, 93, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, December 29, 2017 at home. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Allman) Heck. She was married to the late Charles Russell Doherty for 65 years. Dottie had attended New Providence Mennonite Church. She had worked as a nursery school teacher at Pennwynne Presbyterian Church for over 20 years and had been actively involved with the United Presbyterian Womens Assoc. She had also spent several years as a volunteer at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Esta Beatrice Cully, 80, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, December 29, 2017 of natural causes at her home. Born in Providence Twp., she was the daughter of the late Rexford William and Esta Beatrice (Waltz) Cully. Esta had retired from Armstrong World Industries after 25 years of employment. She is survived by her companion, Donald S. Ross; a sister, Doris M. wife of Richard Lefever; and nephews, Rick, husband of Denise Lefever and their son, Rayce; and Walter Ray; along with a niece, Denise. She was preceded in death by a sister, Theda. |
