Solanco's Thomas Haines and Bo Spiller each won an individual title at the AAA South Central Regional wrestling tournament Saturday in Hershey. Haines (285) won a fourth district title and will be seeking a fourth PIAA crown. He pinned his way to the finals, defeating Milton Hershey's Tymere Eaton, Cumberland Valley's Jackson Stanford, and Harrisburg's Andrew Brown. In the finals, Haines (38-0) defeated Hempfield's Joey Goodhart, 13-1.
Spiller (220) downed Wilson's Hunter Hatlee in the championship bout. He built an 8-2 lead before Hatlee was forced to default because of injury. Spiller scored an opening round pin before winning two decisions to set up the championship bout with Hatlee. The Mules' Connor Sheehan also advanced to the PIAA tournament by virtue of his second place finish at regionals. Sheehan (106), a state runnerup last season, lost 1-0 to Exeter Township's Brett Kulp in Saturday's final. He won his opening bout 3-0 over Big Spring's Tucker Brough, pinned Dover's Brandon Rodriguez, and then topped Cumberland Valley's William Kaldes 4-0. The Mules' Kody Hart (138) made it to the semifinals with wins over Hershey's Skitch Light and Exeter Township's Scott Baker. Hart lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Patrick Duggan of Cumberland Valley and wound up finishing sixth. Solanco's Wyatt Jennings (126) won his first bout before dropping two straight. Dalton Groff (145) fell to eventual champion Max Good of Cedar Cliff in the first round and won his first consolation match before being eliminated, The Mules finished third in the team standings.
