The Solanco wrestling team will have a new look this season. Gone are four-time state champion Thomas Haines and Connor Sheehan, who was third at the state meet last season. The Mules do return eight wrestlers from last year's squad led by heavyweight Bo Spiller. Spiller was 37-8 last year at 220 pounds and is 86-27 in his career. He finished fourth at last year's PIAA meet after capturing sectional and district/regional titles. The projected lineup: 106 - Fresman Zack Spade or freshman Sheldon Pieffer 113 - Freshman Grayson Charles 120 - Senior Taylor Morrison (20-18 last year) who was third at sectionals and fifth at the Lancaster-Lebanon League tournament last season 126 - Freshman AJ Wilson 132 - Junior Joey Davis (15-18) who was fourth at sectionals and seventh in the L-L league 138 - Junior Wyatt Jennings (30-8) who won sectional and league titles last year 145 - Junior Kody Hart (26-13) who was third at both sectionals and leagues 152 - Senior Dalton Groff (25-15) who was third at sectionals and sixth at the league meet 160 - Junior Hunter Smith 170 - Senior Matt Hastings 182 - Senior Josh Bottcher 195 - Senior Shane Devoe 220 - Sophomore Nick Green HWT - Senior Bo Spiller (37-8) John Little, entering his 33rd season as head coach, says the key to the Mules' success is the same as it always is – remaining healthy and keeping the proper attitude. Little identifies Hempfield as the team to beat in Section One while Garden Spot begins the year as the favorite to take the league title. The season starts Friday as Solanco hosts the Mule Classic.
