The Solanco JV girls basketball team lost three games last week. Lancaster Catholic defeated the Mules 57-26 Saturday night. Jen Eberly paced Solanco with nine points. Rachel Trout and Sarah Frawley each added four. "We struggled all game due to their defensive pressure," Mules coach Mike Glackin said. "Credit them with a great effort on their part."
Manheim Township topped Solanco 41-21 Friday night. Haley Conklin scored nine points to lead the Mules and Paige Borcky added four. "We're at our best when we're locking down defensively, holding teams in the high 20s, low 30s," Glackin said. "Giving up 41 isn't going to result in anything good for us. We did a nice job of breaking their press, but then when we got into the halfcourt our offense was very rushed. We were impatient and forced a lot. The effort is almost always there. It's just a matter of the girls learning to focus better and become mentally quick." Ephrata edged Solanco 30-26 last Thursday night. Trout had a team-high eight points. Conklin, Nikki Boultinghouse, and Taylor Stitz each contributed four. The Mules had a four-point lead early in the fourth quarter before Ephrata rallied. "We just really struggled offensively in the second half and only scored nine points," said Glackin. "It just comes down to girls having confidence with the ball in their hands and that only happens with experience. In eight of 12 games we've played this year, we've either won (four) or had a very good chance of winning(four losses by a combined nine points). So we're playing well enough to win games. We just have to make it happen." Comments are closed.
