The Solanco girls basketball team lost 60-30 to visiting Lebanon Friday night. "They were very athletic and a well-rounded team," Mules' coach Chad McDowell said of the Cedars. Lebanon stormed out to a 21-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. "They just got after us," said McDowell. "They hit a couple of threes early and their post player was all over the boards and got a lot of putbacks.
“We hoped we could weather the storm but they shot the ball well." Paige Borcky paced Solanco with nine points. Jen Eberly added five points and five rebounds. Haley Conklin collected five points and four boards. Cayla Robinson recorded three points and three steals. Taylor Stitz supplied three points and four rebounds. Nikki Boultinghouse had three points and three rebounds and Megan Yannutz chipped in two points and five rebounds. Rachel Trout, Solanco's leading scorer, was held off the scoreboard but did register five assists and three steals. "After a slow start, we battled them in the second, third, and fourth quarters," said McDowell. "The girls never quit and played hard. They could've rolled over and said, 'we're done'. The forte of this team is that they play hard every possession whether it's a 20-point game or a one-point game. They put forth the effort." Solanco travels to Garden Spot Tuesday and hosts Ephrata Friday to close out the first half of the Section Two schedule. The Mule JV squad topped Lebanon 41-30. Paige Borcky started off her big night with 10 points. Sarah Frawley added nine. Alyssa Henretty and Boultinghouse each supplied seven. Kaitlyn Borcky and Robinson each scored four. The game was tied at 25 entering the fourth quarter before Solanco pulled away. Comments are closed.
