by Bud Hart Each team won six of the 12 contested bouts in L-L League Section II action, but Solanco forfeits at 113 and 138 gave the visiting Conestoga Valley Buckskins a 41-32 victory on Wednesday, January 3. CV jumped out to a 12-0 lead and even with Solanco’s Sheldon Peiffer’s first period pin at 120, the Buckskins never trailed.
Winning for the Mules, in addition to Peiffer, were A. J. Wilson (152) by tech fall; Ben Root (170) by fall; Josh Weder (195) by fall; Kaleb Tucker (220) by fall; and Averex Grant (285) by decision. It was Wilson’s first appearance on the mat this season. Although his father, Jim, said he is working to get back into shape, Wilson’s praise went to Dr. Dan Neff and his staff. “There is no way he would be returning this early if not for Dan Neff,” said the senior Wilson. “He is the best. A. J. isn’t 100-percent, but he would be out another three months if not for Dan.” Root had little difficulty with CV’s Josh McNamara clamping him in less than two minutes. Weder was down 5-1 before showing the lights to the Buckskins Thomas Weidman. Tucker flattened Yodhe Desta in the first period and Grant fell on Waverly Thomas, who tripped over his own feet with less than five seconds left in the third period to earn a 2-1 decision. Grayson Charles’ absence from the Mule lineup also hindered the Mules winning opportunity. Charles is recuperating from an injury and will be out several weeks. The Mules next home meet will be Wednesday, January 18, when they host the Penn Manor Comets. Comments are closed.
