Captain Seth Harnish says the Solanco football team's mantra is "Do Your Job". The way his team is performing, a multitude of Mules are in the running for Employee of the Month. Solanco thoroughly dominated both sides of the ball and trounced visiting Garden Spot 42-0 Friday night, September 13.
The Mules (3-1) have won three straight after dropping the opener. "We say it every day, J.A.E.," the two-way standout Harnish said. "Our job, our alignment our eyes. It's just doing your job every single day and trusting the guy next to you." Solanco amassed 500 yards of total offense, all of it coming on the ground. Three running backs – Nick Yannutz, Ronnie Fulton, and Rashawsn Carter – had gains of 70 yards or more and all three eclipsed the 100-yard mark. Five different players scored touchdowns, led by two by the bruising fullback Yannutz. "It's just doing our job," said Harnish. "Doing our job on offense makes big plays happen." A 12-yard TD jaunt by Yannutz capped a 10-play drive to start the game. After forcing a Garden Spot punt, the Mules faced a 4th and 3 from their own 25. Solanco lined up as if it was going for it, but drew the Spartans offsides without having to run a play. On the next snap, Carter took a pitch to the right side and raced 70 yards for a score to make it 14-0 with 5:45 left in the first quarter. Four minutes into the second quarter, Fulton took an option pitch to the left, cut back over the middle of the field, and scampered 78 yards for a touchdown. Yannutz added a 48-yard TD burst with 1:48 until halftime then galloped 74 yards to set up a six-yard TD run by quarterback Grady Unger early in the third quarter. Zach Turpen scored from five yards out with 8:01 left in the game. Yannutz finished with 214 yards on 19 carries. Fulton rushed eight times for 122 yards and Carter gained 102 yards on six attempts..
