Jen Eberly was fourth in the 300 hurdles and Cayla Robinson placed sixth in the javelin.
The top four finishers all advance to the district meet. Eberly also qualified in the high hurdles and Emily Conklin advanced in the javelin. Both Solanco teams won the section Sportsmanship Award. Section champs The undefeated Solanco boys track and field team won the section title for the first time in 21 years. The Mules secured the crown with a 96.5-53.5 triumph over visiting Lampeter-Strasburg Monday, May 4. "What can I say about the boys’ win," coach Ivan Haines said. "The coaching staff could not be any prouder of this team. They are a well balanced and deep team. They are young and looking forward to the upcoming post season meets and next year." Juniors Troy Miller and Billy Cooney once again led the way. Miller earned 20 points while Cooney contributed 15. Miller matched his personal record of 6-7 in the high jump and also won the triple jump (40-4.5), long jump (21-8.5), and 200 (23.8). Cooney swept the hurdles races and won the 100. Brit Yoder captured the 400 meters and Gary Doubts earned a win in the shot put with an improved throw of 44-2.5. Noah McCardell, a newcomer to the javelin, continues to improve his throws hitting 153-4. Haines said the workhorses of the team continue to be senior and captain Noah Brady and senior Kyle Munro.
