The Solanco wrestling team had five individual champions and won the Lancaster-Lebanon League wrestling title for the fourth time in five seasons. Thomas Haines captured his fourth conference crown while Connor Sheehan won his third. Alec Proffitt, Wyatt Jennings, and Bo Spiller also prevailed to help lead the Mules to a convincing team triumph. Solanco (223.5) easily outdistanced second place Manheim Central (164.5). Garden Spot (156.5) was third followed by Hempfield (155), Manheim Township (153), Penn Manor (130), Warwick (130), Nothern Lebanon (129), Conestoga Valley (108.5), Lancaster Catholic (96), Cedar Crest (92), Lampeter-Strasburg (81.5), Annville-Cleona (77.5), ELCO (62.5), Pequea Valley (59.5), Columbia (54), McCaskey (52), Cocalico (44), Elizabethtown (39), Ephrata (39), Donegal (36), and Lebanon (19.5). Haines (285) was the winner of the Shorty Hitchcock Award for most falls in the least amount of time (three pins in a combined 3:17). The three-time PIAA champion needed just 57 seconds to down Columbia's Andres Munoz in the title bout. Sheehan (106) defeated Joe Lobeck of Lancaster Catholic 13-6 in the finals. Proffitt (120) claimed the championship with a 4-2 triumph over David Good of Hempfield. Proffitt advanced after a big comeback win over Warwick's Josh Charles in the semifinals. Jennings (126) pinned Lancaster Catholic's John Lobeck in 3:18 to win the title. Spiller (220) edged Hampfield's Joey Goodhart 2-1 after dominating his first three bouts. Spiller posted two pins in a combined 29 seconds and won his semifinal match by tech fall. The Mules Kody Hart (138) was third. Taylor Morrison (113) finished fifth. Dalton Groff (145) was sixth and Joey Davis (132) placed seventh. Solanco defeated Warwick 55-22 in a regular season dual meet Thursday, January 23, to gain a share of the Section One title. The Mules have claimed five straight section championships. Hart, Groff, Karson Beane (152), Hunter Smith (160), Spiller, Sheehan, and Davis each won by fall. Jennings won a major decision and Shane DeVoe (182) prevailed by decision. Haines received a forfeit. Comments are closed.
