The Solanco golf team captured its fourth straight Section Two title. The Mules took care of business and got some help in the final league match of the season Tuesday, September 22 at Tanglewood. Solanco entered the match trailing first place Lampeter-Strasburg by two, but the Mules were first and the Pioneers finished fourth. The Mules end the regular season with a record of 36-6 while L-S was 35-7. Solanco shot a season-best score of 340 followed by Cocalico (347), Elizabethtown (351), L-S (355), Garden Spot (369), Manheim Central (381), and Lebanon (640).
"I am extremely proud of the team as we shot our lowest team score of the season and then got the help we needed to finish as Section Two champs," said Solanco coach Greg Minnich. "Our realistic expectation was a tie for the Section Two crown but Cocalico and E-town played well allowing us to overtake L-S." Ethan Cairns shot a 78 for the low round of the day and captured the Section Two scoring title with an average of 79 in the seven section rounds. Cairns started his round four over par through five holes but played the next 13 holes in two over. He posted back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes (his 11th and 12th holes of the round). John Rush (79) and Brock Lasko (84) both carded their best high school round. "John's round was awesome as he just played steady with a ton of pars and seven bogeys," Minnich said. "I knew John and Brock could play better than they have been all year and they picked a great time to prove it." Wyatt Teaman had a 99 followed by Brady Frampton (101), and Evan Wagoner (103).
