Solanco's wrestling team is putting it together at the right time.
The Mules have won eight straight dual meets after dropping the first two of the season. Solanco improved to 3-2 in section competition with a 42-27 triumph over visiting Manheim Township Wednesday, January 15. The Solanco girls basketball team won two of three games last week. Saturday's game at Daniel Boone was postponed. A makeup date has not yet been set.
Solanco 66, Octorara 22 Paige Phillips scored 11 of her team-high 14 points in the first quarter and added four steals. Ilynd Rapant recorded 11 points and six rebounds and Jade Eshelman notched nine points and seven rebounds. Jenna Dombach delivered six points and six assists and Angela Cylc contributed six points. Twelve different Mules scored. The Solanco boys basketball team's losing streak is up to 11 following three losses last week.
Octorara 61, Solanco 52 Zed Baker led the Mules with 16 points and Colesen Sheaffer supplied 13. Ryan Smith scored 11 and Tyler Burger chipped in eight. Solanco eclipsed the 50-point plateau for the second time all season but Octorara pulled away late. The Solanco boys basketball team lost twice last week.
Palmyra topped the Mules 57-41 in a game at Manheim Central Saturday, January 11. Solanco's girls basketball team split a pair of games last week, winning a section game and losing a non-league contest.
The Mules lost 43-41 to New Oxford Saturday afternoon, January 4, in the West York Shootout. The game was tied 22-22 at halftime before New Oxford outscored Solanco 12-6 in the third quarter. Weston Bare had been in a similar position earlier this season.
The Solanco sophomore wrestler lost the final bout in a match with Hempfield, which allowed the Black Knights to tie the score and ultimately win on criteria. Bare earned some redemption in the Mules' 42-28 triumph over host Conestoga Valley Tuesday, January 2. The Red Lion girls basketball team stole the spotlight at the Solanco Holiday Tournament.
The Lions downed the host Mules 45-34 in the championship game Saturday night, December 28 to give their coach Don Dimoff his 500th career victory. The Solanco boys basketball team dropped a pair of games in its holiday tournament including a heartbreaker in the opening round.

Lancaster Catholic 68, Solanco 42 Colesen Sheaffer led the Mules with 12 points Saturday. Ryan Smith supplied 11. Trailing ELCO 15-12 after a lackluster first half, the Solanco girls basketball team was in desperate need of a spark.
