Bohemia Manor captured two state championships and the Perryville girls are in position to contend for the team title following the first day of the state track and field meet Thursday at Morgan State University. The Eagles' Ty Franks won the 3200 meter run for his fifth outdoor state crown.
Bohemia Manor's 4 x 800 girls relay team – Kirstin Walz, Tara McDonald, Elle Meyer(also fourth in the 3200), and Jamie Rhudy – earned a title in the first event of the day. Franks, Luke Salata, Jared Morse, and Alex Lafountaine teamed to place second in the boys 4 x 800 relay. The Perryville girls (33) are in third place behind Smithsburg (44) and Manchester Valley (44). The Panthers excelled in both the triple jump and pole vault. Brooke Doane placed second in the triple jump with Sierra Montz third. All three Perryville pole vaulters earned points. Hailey McDonald was second with Paiton Kelly fourth and Erica Scheppelmann sixth. Aleah Losoya was eighth in the 3200. Montz and Jaymarie Woods both qualified for the finals of the 100 hurdles and Alysa Conway qualified for the 200 final. The Perryville boys are in 13th place. Jacobo Negron was sixth in the 3200 and Matt Salvatore was eighth. The Panthers' Ben Douty, Mitchell Johansen, Tyler McCall and Ryan Kiger finished fourth in the 4 x 800 relay. Tanner Bird qualified for the high hurdles finals. In the 2A competition, North East's Dean Palmer placed second in the pole vault with Elkton's Allahjah Borden fourth. The Indians' Josh Eastridge was fifth in the shot put and Sarah Kubat was seventh in the discus. Comments are closed.
