The Rising Sun cross country teams both prevailed in a meet held on their new and improved home course Tuesday, September 23. Phil Hurm won the boys race in a time of 18:33, 42 seconds faster than second place finisher Patrick Gerhard of Elkton. The Tigers (33) defeated Bel Air (36), Elkton (72), and Patterson Mill (96).
Rising Sun's Seth McKeown was fifth, a spot ahead of Matthew Childs. The Tigers' Spencer Converse placed 10th with Wyatt McMillan 11th. Adam Logan was 18th with Riley Johnson 21st and TJ Zane 22nd. In the girls team competition, Rising Sun (22) topped Bel Air (39) and Patterson Mill (85). The Bobcats' Emily League won the race in 22:38. Emma Wheeler of Rising Sun (22:58) nipped teammate Alanah Bell to finish second. The Tigers' Josie Brown was fourth. Rising Sun runners occupied the 6-8 positions with Autumn Russell sixth followed by Kiona Brady and Arianna Wheeler. Other Tiger finishers: Cate Dymowski (10th), Brinley Farrall (11th), Danielle Lee (13th), Erin Montgomery (16th), Heather Marsico (17th), Carley Cooperman (18th), Alexandra Neri (22nd), and Helen McBee (29th). Amy Carroll was ninth to lead Elkton. It was the first meet competed on the Tigers' new course. Previously home meets were contested in loops around the immediate school grounds. The new course incorporates a trail through the woods behind the Cecil Arena and a field which will eventually be part of the county's Calvert Regional Park. Comments are closed.
