After capturing a two-run lead in the the second inning Perryville took an on the road win over North East. Mara Little hit a triple in top of the second, putting a man on third. Emily Phillips then hit a single. Hanna Downes was walked loading the bases for Perryville. Hannah Gordon was walked, giving the Panthers their first run, scored by Little. Erin Murphy hit a single, which brought in a second run for the Panthers by Sarah Chandler, to round out the top of the second. "Usually when people give us the opportunity to hit, we hit and we make them pay," said Phillips. "We didn't have many opportunities. (It) was huge for the bottom of our line up to step up there. A couple of (the) girls were behind the count, working foul balls and getting the walk there was (huge). Our, Erin Murphy, who's been hit for (in) a lot of games and she came in there and drove in a run and got a sacrifice for a run. So, the bottom of the lineup really stepped up and that’s what we needed." said Perryville head coach, Dave Ruark. During a fourth, the Indians' Abby Riley hit a single and Jess Choplinsky hit a double, which put runners on second and third. But, with two outs and a strike out, North East couldn't muster a run. "(With) Phillips and the defense putting out fires in several innings with two outs with runners in scoring position was huge," said Ruark. "We couldn't hit the ball much harder than what we did. We hit the ball directly to their fielders and (when) we have runners on you have to score them," said North East head coach, Kim Evans. Throughout the final innings, neither the Indians nor the Panthers could score, leaving Perryville with the lead 2-0. Both team's solid defense and great pitching is what held the game to two runs. "I trust my defense a lot, so I know if they do put the ball in play, my defense is going to make the play or if not we just move on the next one," said Phillips. "They are good hitters, we knew they were good hitters going into the game. Morgan Sargent did a good job hitting her spots and working with Kaitlyn Stewart on that. Stewart has control back there and she called the game. I thought Sargent and her did great job of doing that together and defensively we made some really great plays," said Evans.
