Junior attackman Nick Roberts scored into an open cage on a left-handed bounce shot with one second remaining in regulation to propel the Panthers to a 6-5 triumph over North East Friday night in Havre de Grace. Rising Sun's boys lacrosse team rebounded from a sluggish start to top Eastern Tech 11-5 Friday in a second round playoff game.
Rising Sun's girls lacrosse team posted an overtime win in the opening round of the region tournament before being ousted by C. Milton Wright 24-4 Friday afternoon.
Alysa Conway, Autumn Estep, and Brooke Doane each scored in all four of their events to lead Perryville's girls track and field team to a second place finish in the UCBAC meet.
C. Milton Wright won the girls team competition with 126 points while Perryville scored 117. Harford Tech (106.5) was third followed by Bel Air (91), Patterson Mill (66), North Harford (41), Rising Sun (31), Edgewood (25), North East (23.5), Aberdeen (23), Fallston (20), Elkton (12.5), Joppatowne (7), Havre de Grace (6.5), and Bohemia Manor (6). The Perryville girls are in first place following day one of the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference track and field meet.
The Panthers (42 points) lead C. Milton Wright (32), Patterson Mill (32), and Harford Tech (27.5). Rising Sun's softball team (5-11) lost 2-0 to visiting North East in the regular season finale Monday, May 9.
It was a situation too good to pass up.
Perryville girls lacrosse star Sydnie Bjork will attend Salisbury University where she play for an NCAA Division III power, remain relatively close to home, and eventually reunite with two Panther teammates. Perryville's boys lacrosse team prepped for the playoffs with a 15-4 triumph over visiting Tome Wednesday night.
