Virginia T. Reedy “Ginny” Maxey, 94, of Lancaster, PA died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Manor Care. Born on June 12, 1924 in Linville, VA she was the daughter of the late Philip and Julia May Crider Reedy, Sr. She was the wife of the late Frank Maxey. Most of Ginny’s adult life was spent living in Titusville, FL, where she enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, crafts and ceramics. An avid cook she was known for her lemon meringue pies. She had been a self- employed housekeeper in Florida. Upon moving to Pennsylvania, she worked in the laundry department at Historic Strasburg Inn, and at Burger King in Willow Street, cleaning, stocking the dining room, and dishwashing. The family wishes to thank both ManorCare and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided for her, and a special thank you to Mark Barlieb for being a wonderful friend and neighbor. Ginny is survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Reedy and three generations of many nieces and nephews.
The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, Charles, Cleo, Raymond, Melvin, Joseph, Jacob, Philip, Jr., and Merle; a sister Lucille; and two nephews, Larry and Timothy Reedy. A memorial service will be held at Boehm’s United Methodist Church, 13 West Boehm’s Road, Willow Street, PA on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00AM with Pastor Joan Trout officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Boehm’s United Methodist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
