Robert D. Lewis, 59, of Quarryville, beloved son, brother, and grandfather passed unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of John W. Sr., and Barbara Jane (Bailey) Lewis. Robert has worked for Federal Mogul for 34 years as a set-up mechanic and for the past 4 years had been employed by Warfel Construction as a carpenter. He was a great friend to his co-workers. Robert graduated from Solanco in the class of 1974. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. Robert enjoyed cooking, gardening, and raising steer on the family farm. He was a diligent worker and a faithful friend. In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by 5 siblilngs: Richard Lewis and his companion, Cheryl Mowery of Peach Bottom; Michael, husband of Donna Lewis; Mary Ellen, wife of John Jackson of United Kingdom; Diane, wife of Donald Harsh of Quarryville; and John R. Lewis of Connecticut Also surviving is a grandson, Claydon Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Lewis, Jr. Funeral Services will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Hwy. Quarryville, PA on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert A. Yohe, Jr. officiating. Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in the Quarryville Cemetery.
