Eugene C. Summers, 83, of Gap died at his home Wednesday, November 6

    Eugene C. Summers, age 83, of Gap passed away at home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
    He was married to Ruth E. Hanna Summers for 60 years.
    Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter P. And Henrietta B. Edgerley Summers.
    Eugene was a member of Freedom Life Church. He owned and operated Gene’s Auto Body. After he stepped away from the shop, he began driving for the Amish community and continued to do so for over 30 years. He had a special connection with the Amish children with special needs that he drove to school. ​

     He enjoyed his family and friends, eating fried oysters and Alaskan king crab legs, traveling, especially to WV to listen to mountain music, a good banjo picker was his favorite and fishing.
    Surviving beside his wife are 3 children: Douglas F. Husband of Karen Osborne Summers of Oxford, Sheila M. wife of Brian Haldeman of Lancaster, and Melissa wife of Charlie Snyder of Dover PA, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother Maurice D. husband of Sophie Summers of Strasburg.
    Eugene is preceded in death by a sister Henrietta Marie Warfel and brother Walter E. Summers.
    A funeral service will take place from Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville PA, 17566 on Monday, November 11th at 11a.m. with a viewing from 9a.m. until the time of service. Peggy Powell will be officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery.
