Nancy Frey of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. She was 84. Mrs. Frey was born in Lampeter, the third child of the late Elmer and Catharine Mower Witmer. She grew up on the family farm and attended secretarial school. Mrs. Frey worked for the Lancaster Gas Company until she resigned to become a full-time mother and help on the family farm. She also worked at the West Willow Farmers' Association and as Pequea Township's secretary. She retired from the township in 2006. Mrs. Frey was a member of Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, where she served as librarian and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her son, Jeff, husband of Sue Frey of Willow Street; her daughter, Kathleen, wife of Alan Railing of Willow Street; five grandchildren, Jeremy Railing, Andrew Railing, Ben Railing, Ross Frey, and Clara Frey; seven grandchildren, Carly Railing, Jenna Railing, Misty Railing, Luke Railing, Emily Railing, Nancy Railing; and B. Wyatt Railing; and her sister, Gladys Neff. Her husband of 57 years, Ross Frey Jr., died in 2008. A brother, Kenneth Witmer, is also deceased. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, at Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, 40 Church Rd., Lancaster. A private graveside service will be held in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pequea Brethren in Christ Church Benevolent Fund, 40 Church Rd., Lancaster PA 17603.
