Lawrence E. “Larry” McHenry, 69, of Nottingham PA, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his home. Born in Toughkenamon, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Harriett Cochran McHenry. He was the husband of Brenda Gay Jamison McHenry with whom he shared 15 years of marriage. Larry was a veteran of the US Army. He served as a medic during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2001 from Chrysler Corporation in Newark, DE as a Final Inspector. Larry was a member and former chaplain of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD and of the Oxford Lodge #353 F. & A. M. and member and bartender of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2666, Oxford. He was also a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. He enjoyed the history of Gettysburg, reading and hunting. He is survived by his wife; three stepsons, Vincent Kilpatrick of Newark, DE, Michael Horner (Christine) of Drumore, PA and Scott Horner (Heather) of Quarryville, PA; one step daughter, Shonda Mummaw (Art) of Manheim, PA; seven step grandchildren; seven great step grandchildren; one special great-great nephew, Brayden; two brothers, John Summers of Kenton, DE, Joseph Sexton of Kennett Square, PA; four sisters, Helen Detter of Wilmington, DE, Betty Henley of Phoenixville, PA, Grace Reeser of Christiana, PA and Mary Lou Fieni of Jennersville, PA.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Summers. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 26th at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 86 Pine St., Oxford, PA, where friends and family may visit from 10-11:00 am. Friends and family may also visit Monday from 6 – 8:00 pm. A masonic service will also be held 7:30 pm, Monday at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in Oxford Cemetery.
