Joseph A. Thomas, Sr. of Kirkwood and Port Orange, Fla. died Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was 75. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Joseph W. Thomas and Clarabel H. (Dickinson) Thomas-Newnam. Mr. Thomas attended Scott Senior High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a master carpenter throughout his life, and worked as a project manager before retiring. Mr. Thomas attended Andrews Bridge Christian Church in Pa., and First Assembly of God in Fla. He was fond of the many friends who visited him throughout the years hanging out, talking, working on cars and racing. In the last years before his passing, Mr. Thomas wanted everyone to know who the Lord Jesus Christ was and his significance.
He was the husband of Ann M. "Dolly" DiObilda Thomas. He is survived by three children; son Joseph A. Thomas Jr. of Kirkwood, daughter Carla Garcia and husband Tony of Cape Coral, Fla., son Bruce E. Thomas of Jonestown, beloved sister Linda E. Thomas of Lewistown, half-brother Christopher, L. Thomas of Pomeroy, step-brother Joe Newnam of Parkesburg, and step-sister Jeana Carter of Christiana. He is also survived by two grandsons, Joseph A.Thomas III, wife Nataly of New Providence and Antonio Garcia of Cape Coral, Fla., a great nephew he often thought of as a grandson and mentored, Joseph Duncan of Lewistown, and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, John (Barry)Thomas and Terry H.Thomas, and his step-father Robert Newnam. The funeral service was held at Andrews Bridge Christian Church on Thursday, June 11. Comments are closed.
